Hi Oryoki--
That spec includes more info in the D50 manual as, "Signal-to-noise 
ration (S/N) (Input from the LINE IN (OPT) jack when 
recording/playing back)." Likely it doesn't relate to the the noise 
performance of the mic input. :-)  I can't recall seeing Sony publish 
an EIN or other input noise spec on their recorders.  The crucial 
features are looking pretty good to me. Rob D.
