> I've just noticed a little bat happily flying around in our garden at dus= k! Yes, it is surprising how many different bat species can even appear in a s= uburban garden. During the last two nights I recorded at least seven differ= ent species of bats very close to our house in Berlin, Germany (see http://= www.avisoft.com/sounds.htm#bats). > What microphone would enable me to pick up his high pitched noises? As mentioned here before, many common audio microphones can also capture ul= trasounds. However, depending on the specific model, their sensitivity is v= ery limited at higher ultrasonic frequencies (lets say above 30 to 50 kHz). > I've got an Fostex FR2 LE recorder, and my Roland FA-66 sound interface f= or my computer that goes up to 192khz. There are special microphones that are optimized for recording ultrasounds = and that would be compatible to your recording equipment: http://www.avisoft.com/usg/microphonesP48.htm Regards, Raimund |
