The last couple of models of mini-disk use a dial or jog type control which=
adjusts the record level as well as navagating through menus. The jog type=
control on the MZRH1 not only acts as a menu navigator, but track skip, pl=
ay control and when recording with manual gain selected record level. It al=
l seems to work OK. If using headphones their volume is controlled by the r=
emote. Although you can select the headphone out to be line out where it wi=
ll be fixed.
I would presume Sony would probably continue in a similar vein, but I could=
be wrong.

OK - so presumably this is some sort of "software" dial, that's somehow
switchable (via a menu perhaps) between controlling input and playback
volume.
Or perhaps playback volume is controlled in some completely different way.
