A few features of the Zoom R16:

USA street price: $400

8 track recorder, 16 track playback
8 individual slide controls for gain, plus master gain slide

records to SDHC memory cards at rates up to 24/44.1
or pass the signal through to computer via USB at 24/96
possible to copy from SDHC to USB flash drive

6 AA cells provides power for more than 4 hours
can be powered by computer via USB cable
or from mains power unit that converts to 5V DC (included)
silent operation -- no fans or motors

8 combination XLR-1/4-inch inputs
two of the 8 can provide 48V phantom power
1 1/4-inch high impedance input for electric guitar
2 built-in mics for voice notes
lots of digital effects, including compressor and equalizer
that handles 8 channels simultaneously

possible to link two R16s by USB, one as master, one as slave, for control =
of 16 inputs

Dimensions :  about the size of a large PC keyboard
