Hi Max,
I believe that one could use for instance Adobe Auditon or Audacity.
I and my clients use the specialized Avisoft-RECORDER software
(http://www.avisoft.com/recorder.htm) that is optimized for applications in
bioacoustic research. This software is only available for Windows.
I should note that I still have not used the E-MU Tracker (or it's larger
brother E-MU 0404 USB 2.0) for classical stereo nature recording. Most of my
clients use these units successfully for recording and playing back ultrasonic
vocalizations of laboratory rodents (mice and rats) or bats in combination with
special ultrasonic microphones and speakers.
Regards,
Raimund
