I cannot detect any differences in the noise levels of the K6/ME66 between
phantom and battery power. Though, there seem to be indeed individual units out
there that exhibit a higher noise floor when powered by the battery.

A few years ago I purchased a used K6/ME66 off eBay that showed that increased
level of noise. Fortunately, the Sennheiser service in Germany was able to fix
the problem for a small fee.
