Thanks a lot for the tips. I've searched for the 'ugly' preamp and found a 
dozen other interesting ones. I'll take a closer look on each one. I also will 
look for this docking device.
I also found some schematics to build a preamp, some of them are pretty simple 
and efficient, maybe I should try this too.
