An E/W jet corridor rocks this location pretty bad. But between the jet noi=
se and sporadic highway traffic the area is super quiet. In the middle of t=
he night one could get lucky with more than an hour uninterrupted quiet. Mo=
rning flights out of Portland can really ruin the dawn chorus here with jet=
s spaced less than 5 minutes apart for a while around 5am.
I was there the weekend before the change to daylight savings time, which m=
akes me wonder how the one hour shift to earlier predawn noise might affect=
the owls.
