Hi Travis,
Don't overlook the Marantz PMD 620 if you plan on really long term or unatt=
ended recordings. Some of the recorders don't behave so well when you get t=
o the 2GB .WAV file limit. I'm using mine for frog calls, and am very happy=
with the results, the current record being 36 hours continuously with an e=
xternal battery. I apologize for a post along the lines of 'Well, MY favori=
te is...', but I nearly did overlook the Marantz, associating the name with=
cheezy stereo amplifiers of the 1970s.
Regards,
David

I was a Marantz servicing dealer during the 1970s; their stereo amplifiers =
were not "Cheezy." In fact, quite the opposite was the case; they built som=
e very good equipment and backed it through dealers such as my firm. You mi=
ght be referring to some of Superscope's budget priced equipment, by which =
they attempted to enter the volume market. The stuff was okay but not of Ma=
rantz quality. I also handled such "cheeezy" gear as Bang & Olufsen, Revox/=
Studer, SAE, UHER, and other brands you likely would not recognize.
