A world sound pollution overlay would cover virtually the whole globe,
now. I was at the new
Google Earth 5.0 launch, yesterday, and it's pretty impressive. Now,
all they need is to add the voice of
the planet (urban, rural, wild natural) and it'll be
complete...particularly if they do it from an historical perspective
(what things sounded like before human or other causes and what they
sounded like after). We've gone some distance in putting
together a version of what it might look like if/when they choose to
