<<Didn't Cage sue someone for Copyright when their song contained an extended period of silence?? I have a vague recollection of something along those lines.>> There was a CD which contained a long silent section, which the artist/ composer (can't remember who just now) jointly credited to himself & John Cage. Cage was deceased at the time, but his publisher took the position that since this was being considered a performance of a Cage piece that proper royalties were in order. The publisher was awarded mechanical royalties for the inclusion of the piece on the CD, by a court in the UK, IIRC. Scott Fraser |
