Tascam has been busy releasing new products over the last couple of
months. I will be surprised if they have a new product release
planned before the new year.

New Tascam recorders include:

GT-1R, a version of the DR-1 with a 7mm (1/4-inch) input for electric
guitar and other amplified instruments

DP-004, a portable, battery operated Portastudio model that lets you
record two tracks through 7mm inputs, and mix them with previously
recorded tracks

2488neo, a studio recorder with 8 mic inputs and mixer that can
combine a total of 24 tracks. The mixdown can be captured on a
built-in CD drive.

None of these devices matches the description of a DR-1 two channel
recorder, updated with XLR inputs. However, Marantz has shown an
improved version of its PMD660 portable XLR recorder, and Tascam may
find it necessary to compete with a similar recorder.
