I use a Marantz PMD660 and find the built-in loudspeaker (150mW ohms) lacki=
ng in quality to reproduce the spoken voice with enough clarity to satisfy =
a Voice & Dialect Coach I work with. She wants to record actors in training=
and monitor with enough clarity and dynamic range to demonstrate subtle ad=
justment of vocal expression and tone.
To those who use the PMD670(100mW), PMD671 (70mW ohms),Tascam HD-P2 (500mW =
16ohms), Fostex FR2-LE (300mW) or other similar recorders, how would you ra=
te the internal loudspeaker for the features described above?
The human voice is of course a natural sound although its use by actors may=
seem otherwise at times.
I work with them in my day job which allows me time to play with outdoor no=
ises at other times.
I have posted a short Manx Shearwater fly-past by way of introducing them t=
o the group. They only come ashore to service the nest burrow at night, som=
etimes up to 50,000 between darkness and first light. Ancient mariners fear=
ed they were the souls of long lost sailors crying out to be comforted. Spo=
oky!
