Welcome to the group, Mark. If you can still find a copy, "Wild
Soundscapes: Discovering the Voice of the Natural World" is a decent
place to start. A book/CD, you'll find lots of information in
it...all except the tech chapter that is way out of date, now (the
book was published in 2002). The postings from the group are far more
informative in that regard, and current.
