it gives me a great kick when you say "our own umashankar mantravadi" the z=
oom h2 with a tetrahedral microphone has made progress, and i am almost rea=
dy to manufacture them on a very small scale. angelo farina at the universi=
ty of parma will calibrate and sell the system - which is named brahma, ver=
y soon.

in the meantime, i will try and post a picture and a recording - of=A0 asia=

p.s. it might be worth just doing a mod like a did, remove the internal mic=
rophones and bring the four inputs to a five pin socket.
you can then connect any unbalanced microphone to these four inputs
=A0i have published my poems. you can read (or buy) at http://stores.lulu.c=

Yes, it would be an improvement if you're using a decent mic.=A0 As you
mention, the preamp circuit supporting the H2's external mic input is
unexpectedly noisy, much noisier than the internal mics or the line
level input.
Here's the post by Leonard Lombardo of Sonic Studios showing his
measurements of the H2's external mic input vs the line input.=A0

Note that the first chart shows performance using a cable terminated
with a 1000 ohm resistor.=A0 The second chart shows performance when
using Lombardo's PA-3SX portable preamp.
There's a web forum devoted to Zoom recorders here

Described here are several interesting recording projects, and links
to Zoom H2 hardward modifications, like our own Umashankar Mantravadi
adding a tetrahedral mic array for Ambisonic-style surround sound
recording.
