As someone who has friends and colleagues who actually create sound software, I'd say another reason not to steal their work is because it's not very nice. Most of us are on a budget, true - but there are a lot of relatively inexpensive shareware music and audio programs - even freeware options - to tide you over until you can afford the more expensive stuff. And commercial software makers usually have demos that you can try out for free before you spend your hard-earned cash...
