Fostex FR2-LE ordered from US - how to use in Europe?

Just bought a new Fostex FR2-LE off eBay, and I realize there will be
some challenges with the, as far as I understand it, 120V only AC
adaptor - because I will be using it in Norway, Europe, where we use 220V.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I might do? Should I buy a
step-down transformer?

I received a quote from the Fostex distributor in Norway today for a
FR2 power supply ... they want $193 dollars for it. Insane is not a
strong enough word.

I noticed (I think) there are people on the list who have previously
ordered from the US, and are using it in the UK. What did you guys do
with this?

Also, will a generic adapter (12 V DC) tolerating at least 1A do? Do I
risk blowing something up? ;)
