Setting up to record a pair of Great-horned owls that often visit around midnight and got this thing instead. I've heard raccoons make a growl-like sound, but not this extended. It starts off in a kind of feline mode, so I thought bobcat at first, but then it takes on a vaguely canine quality toward the end, so coyote also comes to mind. It's either a really angry parrot or a shape-shifter. (You can hear a large dog barking in the background - that's about 1/4 mile away. And there's a little touch of distant motorcycle thrown in for good measure.) Any IDeas? I seem to recall a similar "mystery" recording a month or so back on this list, but I don't recall whether there was a determination. Haven't been able to ferret it out yet. Will poke around some more. http://tinyurl.com/57ljmo Thanks, - Don |
