Hi Tim--
That would be fantastic! I think you'd need mics with 12dB(A)
self-noise (or lower would be even better) in order to detect the pre
noise difference with any certainty.  Might be good to set the record
gain near or at maximum in a quiet setting for one of the tests in
order to get a sense of the available gain in the pres too. Rob D.
