Hi folks,
My apologies for cross-posting if you've already received this. Here
are upcoming events for the Nature Sounds Society (NSS) and the Bay
Area Sound Ecology (BASE) groups:
- Saturday, May 10, 2008 (9:30 am - 2 pm) the annual Tech Talk at
Dan Dugan's laboratory in San Francisco. This is a 'basics' class to
help you experiment with equipment to use in the field, either on your
own or at our annual workshop in June.
- Wednesday, May 14, 2008 (7:30 pm) a conversation with noted Sound
Designer Jim LeBrecht in partnership with (BASE). This event will
also be held at Dan Dugan's laboratory in San Francisco. This is the
third of a new series that started this year; be sure to check our
website occasionally for upcoming BASEbots. For more details about
Jim and the talk, please see the NSS website at
http://www.naturesounds.org
- Friday, June 27 through Sunday June 29, 2008, the 24th Annual Field
Workshop at San Francisco State University's Yuba Pass field station.
Featured speakers include artist Lea Cox, composer Hugh Livingston,
Wildbeat radio producer Steve Sergeant, nature sound recordist Martyn
Stewart, sound engineer and designer Dan Dugan, among others. This
workshop includes field trips, lectures, and a
build-your-own-windscreen intensive (our always popular craft
segment). An add-on overnight backpacking trip in partnership with
the Sierra Club to find quiet recording spots will be available.
We look to see you at some or all of these events! For more
information, call Dan Dugan at (415) 821-9776 or e-mail him at
