Currently hummming and hawing (sp?) for upgrades to my meager
recording system. Sparked on by the opportunity to purchase a Sony
HiMD recorder (RH1)at a pretty decent price . . . many good things
read over the past but a purchase I've put off for much too long.
Then got round to thinking a bit more about the Sony PCM D50 then
(now) Fostex FR2LE. The Sony PCM D50 is attractive because it would
also serve for some impromtu recordings of solo guitar/keyboards in my
home using the internal mic's. That is indeed attractive However, my
principal use would be recording ambient environments (using AT3032's)
and wildlife (pending shotgun purchase), something it appears the
Foxtex would handle well without need for any other equipment, and I
haven't really found that much re: the Sony with external mic
arrangements.
However, one bitter reality seems to be that no one in Canada actually
has this unit in stock. All are quoting on the order of a month or so
to get in . . . with no guarantee that it would even be within that
time period. Is this common with the unit (i.e. high demand)?
As an alternative, I'd appreciate any suggestions of US based
suppliers that could allow fairly rapid shipment to Canada.
