At this week's National Association of Broadcasters meeting, Nagra
introduced a new field recorder called the LB.
Features of the LB include
--input preamps of "highest possible quality"
--preamp has limiter function and"vortex filter" to reduce wind noise
--two XLR mic/line inputs with 48V phantom power
--digitizing rates up to 24/192 for BWF files
--uses Compactflash flash cards as recording medium
--"switch" function allows recording to continue to internal 2GB flash
memory while you swap in a new Compactflash card
--powered by eight AA cells for about 10 hours
--a lithium-ion rechargeable battery is under development
The LB is a little larger than the ARES BB+, which measures 160 x 168
x 56 mm (6=BC x 6=BE x 2 inch) and 900 g, (2 lb) with battery.
Like all Nagra products (well, except the ARES-M), the LB is built for
a lifetime of rugged field use.
The LB will be available in Summer 2008, price about $3000.
