The Natural Sounds Program of the National Park Service will hold a 
training session in San Francisco for all soundscape recordists 
interested in volunteering to help the national parks inventory and 
preserve their soundscapes.

Training will cover attended monitoring technique with Palm software 
and analysis of data collected by automated recording stations.

Everyone contemplating volunteering should attend.

The session will be hosted by the Nature Sounds Society:

Trainers will be Emma Lynch and Damon Joyce from the Natural Sounds 
Program's office in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Software used for attended 
monitoring (a combination of Palm and Windows) and analysis (Windows) 
is available for free. Bring compatible PDAs and laptops.

Natural Sounds Program Mission Statement:

"The Natural Sounds Program works to protect, maintain, or restore 
natural soundscape resources in parks. We fulfill this mission by 
working in partnership with parks and others to increase scientific 
and public understanding of the value and character of natural 
soundscapes and to eliminate or minimize noise intrusions."
