[gear] Sony ECM-957PRO mic announced

Sony is now offering a new version of its mid-side stereo mic.  The
ECM-957PRO has a list price of $450 and is sold by the Sony's
Broadcast and Business Solutions group.  The original ECM-MS957 mic
(list $300) will continue to be sold by the SonyStyle consumer
electronics group.

Sony says the 957PRO is more sensitive than the MS957.  The 957PRO has
an adjustment for vertical or horizontal mic placement.  Like the
MS957, the 957PRO can be adjusted for a 90 or 120 degree focus of the
sound field.  The 957PRO also has a black finish instead of the
MS957's brushed silver.

Both the MS957 and 957PRO models perform the mid-side mix using
electronics in the mic handle.  The output of the mic is a
conventional left-right stereo.
