Thanks Oryoki. The shut-off is a disappointment, but most everything
else _appears_ pretty workable, especially at ~$250USD.  Hopes might
be higher than usual for low-noise mic pre performance based on
Tascam's HD-P2, but we really can't tell until we connect a portable
phantom power unit and some very low-noise mics.

There sure are a bunch of new, lower-cost and middle-cost recorders
