Just a bit of off topic information :)

we spent June in Katmai NP last year recording the natural soundscape
for a total of 11 days, i got to know the head ranger who overseen the
Treadwell episode. Not realizing at the time that Treadwell died at
Halo bay on Katmai NP i was totally gobsmacked about his final
location. I subscribed to the fact that Treadwell was protecting bears
from poachers somewhere along the Aleutian peninsula, fact was he
was protecting bears in a protected area!
Only 2 bears in the history of Katmai NP have been killed by park
rangers and they were the two bears that had stalked Treadwell.
The Ranger also heard the tape and gave me a very graphic account of
the audio, lots of screaming and the sound of his girlfriend bashing
away with a saucepan or some other cooking utensil.
I lost a lot of respect for treadwell, he provoked the animals and
crossed over the line in the sand. He was given 2 citations about his
conduct by the park. There was never any evidence that poachers were
taking bears in Katmai contrary to the last report in the film.
I was offered to see some of the pictures of the mutilated bodies for
which i hastily declined. It was a horrible death but an inevitable
one. I felt sorry for the animals.
I had donated 500 bucks to the treadwell fund 2 years prior thinking
he was doing a great job. how wrong i was!
When I'm in the wild i respect the nature code regardless of how
desperate i want the sound of something. to disturb animals whatever
species while in their natural habitat is criminal.

(Disclaimer: have no interest in funding for any future films
including Timothy Treadwell.)
