Followup - the web page says the Fel does pass phantom to the mic,
but an inquiry to Rode - answered so quickly! - says the Dpowerplug
blocks the phantom. Thus the Rode is the only one suitable for ribbon
mics. Now on my list for future purchase.

Somebody has to do something, and it's just incredibly pathetic that
it has to be us.

Regarding both of these units, I would like to know if either of them
pass the phantom on to the mic - to use with ribbons it would be
important to have them block the phantom... I would research it when
the time comes, as I'd love to be able to use my one pair of ribbons
in a number os situations where I wouldn't now. (but not for outdoor
use in any event!). Not my top priority either, but they would be
useful tools to have!

Thanks for the helpful comments on this topic.
I notice Rode makes an inline preamp the D-PowerPlug that gives a 20db
boost. The noise specs could be better, but not too bad at "-116 dB
A-Wt RTI."

It would be fun to experiment with nature recording using ribbon mics,
but for now that is at the bottom of my list.
