Thanks to a heads-up on the Tapers' Section web forum, I found a blog with information about a new Marantz field recorder. Called the PMD620, the new machine has size and specifications similar to the M-Audio Microtrack II and Edirol R-09. Presumably the price will be in the $300 to $400 range as well. Here's the source of the rumor, including a photo: http://tinyurl.com/ypnrsp This rumor makes sense. It's been 2 years since Marantz introduced the PMD660 and PMD671 recorders, enough time for Marantz engineers to design a new product. --oryoki |
