If I remember correctly, Klas Strandberg found that the EM-23 worked well when wired in place of the mic capsules in the Zoom H4, the H2's larger brother. The recordings made this way had low self-noise, similar to a Hi-MD recorder. The mics had to be soldered in place because the H4 has XLR and 7mm phone jack inputs, not the 3.5mm jack the EM-23 is wired for. The H4 also does not produce the correct "plug-in power" for the EM-23 through the XLR jacks. Marco's message confirms that the H2 does provide the power the EM-23 needs. --oryoki |
