Rory,

Thanks for starting this...fun to hear Cape St. Mary's in my mind's ear
again...I wanted to chime in, because there is growing movement in my
neighborhood and what I hope to be in distant neighborhoods, about
localization efforts, the hundred mile diet etc...so many environmental
issues come to focus for me, when I think about the local vs. pioneer
tendency...

for me, listening sometimes is a of game of, do I hear tendency to love
where I am or love where I am going. For those that live in a place where
the sounds that dominate are sounds of going somewhere else, the sounds of =
a
place that echo the beauty of where we are, come across as especially
compelling.

I know that the sounds and discussion posted on this list offer a very
important guidance for my world. Especially after I have spoken to someone
with a pulse on the trajectory of the balance of this planet and our
precarious place on it.

:)

Toby
