Last weekend, I took a class (my first) about recording nature
sounds, and I learned a little about equipment used for recording,
techniques for using the equipment, and methods for editing the
results (by computer).
I want to order some Telinga equipment so that I can record bird
sounds. However, I do not know what to order, and I cannot understand
how to choose equipment from the Telinga web site. Can you help me?
For recording, I'm thinking of starting with a Marantz PMD 660 (from
the Oade Bros.) and then upgrading later to a Sound Devices 702 (if
I like recording and do it often). Whichever recording device I use,
I want to combine it with a Telinga microphone (and dish/parabola)
that can work with either device. However, from reading the Telinga
web site, I cannot tell which dish and microphone would be best.
Initially, I want to use the microphone that comes with the dish, but
eventually I may want to substitute another. So, the dish would have
to be capable of such substitutions.
Can you recommend an appropriate Telinga dish and microphone?
BTW, I've sent this request to Klas at Telinga, but I haven't heard
from him. That's why I'm sending this to you.
