Hi James. "Work" for what application and with which end-product in
mind?  Mic choice can be quite involved. For recording ambience in
quiet locations, I think you'd be quite amazed to try a pair of mics
with self-noise of 16dBA or lower compared to your AT822. If you
record loud calls and sounds in louder environments, the AT822 might
be fine. Don't forget our archive:
