Hi,
I know what you mean - perhaps occaisionally there is copyright paranoia,
but I recon in most cases it's the easiest way to distribute the file, and=
a result of standard operating systems / browsers trying to be "helpful"
and automatically play the file rather than asking the user what they want=
to do with it (e.g download).
In this case, Greg posted a direct link to an mp3 file, so I'd be very
surprised if he was trying to restrict its usage in any way. The
procedure to download depends on what OS / browser you use.
In Safari on the Mac, pasting the URL into the location bar, then holding
down the option (ALT) key whilst hitting return will result in download
rather than play. There are other methods too.
I'm less familiar with Windows, but trying it now Firefox browser seems to=
ask whether to open or save (if required this can be configured under
Tools / Options / Downloads / View+Edit Actions). Whereas Internet
Explorer 7 seems to just open it in Media Player without asking. No doubt=
there's a way around this too...
One possibility, when you're playing a file in Media Player, right-click
on the bottom left (where it says "Prettyboy Excerpt" in this example)
which should bring up a menu with a File / SaveAs option. At least it
does on there version here - others are probably different...
Does any of that help ? If not, perhaps let me know what OS / browser
you're running and I can try and be more specific.
Cheers
Chris
