I finally had a chance to make a short recording while out on a bird watching trip to Yellingbo, (near Melbourne, Australia) on the weekend. It's less than perfect and there is some handling noise evident. The recording was done with a Sony RH-1, battery powered Audio Technica AT897 with Rode SM4 shockmount and Dead Cat. I was hand holding the shockmount and immediately discovered the importance of having the cable between mic and recorder well isolated from contact. http://www.mactrix.com.au/recordings/ Anyway this was my first attempt at recording away from a noisy urban environment, and was an educational experience. cheers Paul |
