Hello everybody,

wanted to say something about me since I'm new to the group. I'm a
amateur recordist located in south Spain with an interest in natural
and man-made sound - including music. Been doing some bird and insect
recordings for the last couple years, although what I like most is
fixing ambiances at the places I frequent due to my activities as a
field biologist (actually I'm a plant biologist, but since the plant
kingdom is quite unprofitable as a sound source I often shift to
animals :-). These places are mostly marshes and Mediterranean
forests/scrublands.

I believe sometime from now sonically unpolluted environments may be
as rare as many plant and animal species, or even become extinct.
Taking sound snapshots means to me a nice way to document what likely
will soon be gone (sorry for the pesimistic - and informed - words).

I regularly upload my work to the Freesound Project (a collaborative
database of Creative Commons licensed sounds at
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/, you can search and listen there if you
wish). Hopefully I will also contribute to this group in the near
future. Just please excuse my poor written English, spoken is even
worst :-)

Saludos

Dob R. Oide
