Hi Mark--
I always game for attempts. The clocks are generic AA battery powered
wall clocks ~10" across like you would find for $8-$15 at retail
store. The tick is very soft-- on par with the small bedside battery
powered electric clocks.
The "tick" is:
Much quieter than water drip from a faucet.
About the same as dropping a playing card on a hard surface from 1".
About the same as the crackle of a ground squirrel putting his/her
weight on a semi-dry leaf.
The dead booth really helps create the illusion of separation plus
the booth tests are at 36" compared to 50" in my previous, "live"
studio tests.
Spec-wise, NT1-A's sensitivity is on par with mkh's but it isn't all
"practical" because the spec includes significant response 30 Hz and
below.

This is a big reason the 744T's very low Hz response shows up so well
