Hi--
I'm not sure the list can withstand much more
tech-talk at the moment, but the first edition of
the <$1000 recorder test for high gain, low-noise
recording is ready for people to take a listen to:

http://www.uwm.edu/~type/audio-art-tech-gallery/pages/1K-744-HD-HB-Mic24-NH=
-AresM_AIFF.mov-present.html

There are three format/file sizes.
QuickTime with uncompressed 16/48 sound (10mb)
QuickTime with compressed sound (3mb)
and
Windows 7 with compressed sound (3mb)

If you have a phone modem, right click on a
yellow link and select "Save-As" to download the
test movie.

My thanks to William Haven, Dan Dugan, Greg
Weddig & Anthony Capaner for their roles in
making this test possible. Also Sweetwater Sound.
My personal observations are summarized at the
bottom of the page with the test. Rob D.
