Another source of fabric sleeves of varied size, color and fiber stock is to 
strip the outer 
sheath from hanks of kernmantle cord or rope (climbing rope or accessory cord; 
similar 
construction and more varied materials in lines for sailing). Some accessory 
cord has 
reflective strands woven in (e.g, Sterling Glo Cord) so they are fairly easy to 
locate in the dark 
with a light.
