Yeah, I've been lurking here as well. Hopefully you'll get some good
responses- as I'm interested in what folks have to say on this subject as
well. I just got a ME66 and a Marantz PMD-670 for our ornithology class, so
we can do some field recording.
It seems that mono-recording is on the way out, and stereo all the rage for
new nature recording (at least that's what I've made of this discussion so
far). Are you familiar with any of the Maryland Recordists? If not, check
out http://www.dannymeltzer.com/mdnr.html.
That group seems to have a pretty good diversity of gear, with some nice
samples of their work.
