... a little more: The mics are placed as near one another as
possible and this "group", which resembles a medium-big membrane, -
is placed about an inch from the edge of the round plate. So
theoretically you would have better stereo "backwards" (into the
parabola) where the separating plate is 3/4 of it's total diameter.

Theoretically you would get a bit better stereo effect of the sky
when you place it facing down towards the ground.
If you face it upwards, you will get a better stereo effect of
insects and things on the ground.
But if it matters in practical life, I don't know.
Why not try it, and report here?
