Thanks. Maybe we should modify the under $1000 test to under $500 per 
channel so as not to exclude the surround folks?

The hesitation I recall with the R4 is the possibility of noisy line 
inputs should one want to work around the reported mic pre noise. 
Noise is usually not historically a problem with balanced line 
inputs, but the balanced line performance of the MicroTrack unit I 
tested was disappointing. Maybe small scale, transformer-less 
balanced line circuits are an engineering challenge?  Rob D.
