I tested a 744/MP-2 a few years back and found I
could not consistently distinguish them in a
blind test.  I use them side by side on my
surround rig and have not encountered performance
differences I can't live with.  I believe the 722
pre has about 5dB more gain on paper and results
in the field have borne this out. Rob D.
