I second (or third?) the advice that you take advantage of recordings made by the members of this group, many of whom produce and sell CDs of natural soundscapes. If you plan to make your own recordings, one consideration should be the way you plan to play back the recordings to your clients. You may choose different microphones and recording techniques if clients will listen using headphones rather than loudspeakers. Buying a camera did not make me Ansel Adams; owning an inexpensive audio recorder and mic doesn't let me achieve results like the professional audio recordists do. It's fun and challenging to try, however! I've found the members of this group to be very patient and helpful to newcomers. So please ask questions, and tell us about your experiences. --oryoki |
