Then one should say in the title your list is of pocketable field pre's, not a inclusive list of all field capable preamps? I get the impression people think it's inclusive when it's not. Some on your list it better be a pretty big pocket, like the SD Mix Pre which is much better carried in a shoulder pac, particularily once cable connectors are attached to it. After all, how many well liked field recorders are pocketable? You'd have to toss out the Sound Devices recorders too. Pocketable should be pretty low on the things you should look at in a pre, there are plenty of other ways to carry things in the field. Gain, noise, features like M/S decoders or quality level displays, etc are more important. Walt |
