That's the conclusion I'm coming to as well Walt...[sigh].
I'm just trying to figure out if my needs justify me walking all the
way down that well worn path to MKH'dom. I think I could live without
a figure of 8 mic being from the same mic range, so long as it's quiet.
I've started looking at the AKG C480/CK range and on paper they would
seem to be very capable and suitable for my intended applications.
Which makes me wonder why I don't hear much about this AKG range on
this or the Phonography group. Is there some fatal flaw in this range
which makes them unsuitable for natural ambience recording? A modular
system like the AKG C480/CK (or the Sennheiser K6) system would make
sense for me because of its flexibility.
Comments/user experineces of these 2 systems would be much appreciated.
