A well studied associate of mine says this:

"The mic input on the front of the machine is a three-pin female DIN
connector with a twist-lock collar. I believe it's an ordinary low-Z
balanced input that's easily adapted to a standard XLR input.

The line I/O is on a multipin female DIN connector on the side of the
machine. The machine came with a line in-out cable that plugs into this
DIN connector.

The stock microphone has two DIN connectors on the end of its cable.
One is for the mic circuit, and plugs into the mic input on the front
of the machine. The other is for the pause control switch that's
located on the side of the microphone. That connector plugs into the
"remote control" DIN socket on the side of the machine."

  So, it is a switch close circuit, not a power supply, and on a
spearate jack, evidently....
