Anton,
I know what you're saying and am sorry if what I said came across a
bit heavy handed , I'm a eng/efp sound recordist in my day job...
It's just I often see people (production co's) wanting more and more
for less because those starting off are willing to do work for cut
rates. In the end it bites you in the ass because they say xyz will
do it for $0, so why won't you?
I'm lucky as i have a staff job working for a crewing co that won't
hire me out for next to nothing , but yes even I end up from time to
time working on a mates production for next to nothing or a few beers
just for the fun of it.
It's because I know how much work it takes in post to edit and mix a
film that i get angry when people want your hard work for nothing,
the same goes for gathering fx or even nature recordings (something I
do in my spare time) , in short , make sure you DO get something,
even a case of beer can help!
Anyway, good luck in your career.

Grant.
