For Windows XP open Windows Explorer and go to Tools>Folder
Options>File Types. Scroll down the list of file types to WAV and then
you can change the program from Syrinx to something else or delete the
reference entirely. Other versions of Windoze work similarly but the
click progression may be a little different.
Sometimes you can direct your specific software program to be or not
to be the default program for a file type, but this method works for all
software.
