I just need to correct the record re an earlier complaint I made on this
list about Sound Professionals. I said that they seemed to be very slow...
I fed them the wrong email address. Thus the slowness was my fault. oops.
My order progressed very quickly once the email was corrected and I seem
to get excellent and detailed advice and service from all. I haven't
received my order yet but it has just shipped.
I wouldn't want to have put people off for no reason.
btw I have ordered from Sound Professionals some AT943/ES943 series
lavalier mics with a few different capsules to try out. I will use
these for basic voice recording and I will also attempt to use them as a
stereo pair to capture ambient noise. I will let the list know if they
are fit for this purpose and post some samples.
I am also interested in following up Walt's comments about 1/8" / 3.5mm
plug sizes and shapes and my own problems with the Rode NT4 cord/HiMD
jack combination. I don't have calipers but with the naked eye I have
noticed differences in the overall length of the contact section of
plugs and in the spacing of the sections. This was with two
(supposedley) high quality stereo plugs. They appear to be the same
diameter and neither of them have noticeable free play but obviously
such a thing would be very subtle.
I will post close up photos of all the plugs alongside each other once I
have a full complement and perhaps we will get to the bottom of this.
There is no point making up custom plugs/leads until we know which ones
work best.
I am expecting a plug from Hosa. I have the supplied plug for the Rode
NT4. I have an "Extreme Sound Headphones" gold plug (not sure what
brand), and a pile of plugs from Sound Professionals in the
international mail. I guess I should include the original Sony
headphone/remote plug too - even though it is unlikely to qualify as
high quality.
glad you sorted out your drama with the 183s David.
