Richard, I'd try a different card reader. The inexpensive Sandisk USB card reader is not very good. The cheap card reader included with some Lexar Comapctflash cards is not very good, either. If a second card reader doesn't work, I'd contact Sandisk and ask for their advice. The cards have a warranty, so you should be able to replace yours with ones that work. A nifty tool to use when a Compactflash card is messed up is "Card Wiper" from Photorescue.net This PC program can usually destroy corrupted files that may be making the card unusable.
